Why should I join USC Men’s Crew?

Rowing is a sport that will teach you how to have a strong work ethic, get you in the best shape of your life, and make you a part of our team’s family.

When and where do we practice?

Practices are in the morning M-F and on some weekends. We will generally practice out of our boathouse which is in the port of LA in Wilmington. We leave for our boathouse at 6AM from the bus stop next to the Lyon Center and are back by 9AM classes. We occasionally practice on the roof of the PED building are are finished in time for 8AM classes. We provide transportation for our athletes.

What do I need to do to be on the team?

You need to be a USC student attending classes. You need to show up and apply yourself by working hard. Anyone satisfying these requirements is welcome to be a part of our team

What are practices like?

Rowing is a very technical sport on top of its physical demands. As such, many practices will be technical in focus. We will run drills in the boat on the water or row for long periods of time while focusing on particular skills. Other practices, especially later in the season, shift toward more physically demanding pieces that will test and improve your fitness. When not on the water we row on machines together to test our abilities and push our limits

What is the season like?

We compete against schools from all over the west coast and beyond. In the fall, our races are 5km long and in the spring, we race for 2km. We participate in two home races per year and travel to Sacramento, San Diego, and several other locations on the west coast. Certain athletes have opportunities to go to Boston, MA for the Head of the Charles and Oakridge, TN for ACRA. Races are on weekends and travel to events and lodging is covered by the team. See the race schedule for specific dates and locations.
