Port of Los Angeles: The Bob Hillen Cup is tarnished beyond repair but the race against UCLA will go on.
The Trojan Navy and America’s No. 1 ranked Women of Troy will travel to Ballona Creek in Marina del Rey to take on the UCLA Bruins on Saturday.

The USC Crew of '04 proudly hoists the Bob Hillen Cup.

On the men’s side USC enters this year’s cross-town rivalry race as an unlikely underdog. The Trojans have won three of the four races for the Bob Hillen Cup since the race was resumed after a ten-year hiatus in 2003.

Despite coming off a convincing home-water defense of the George Gordon Cup last week against Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State and UCSB, it is UCLA that has enjoyed the better season.

“The bruins have shown good speed and will start favorites this year,” said USC men’s head crew coach Gene Kininmonth. “We certainly have our work cut out for us but we will be prepared to race.”

The annual duel will conclude the regular season for the Trojan Navy, who will later compete at the PAC-10 Championships at Lake Natoma on May 13.
